Save the Ducks and Other Stories of Courage Dignity, Embarrassment and Total Cowardice

A one-woman show written and performed by Rose Buckner

In Save the Ducks Rose Buckner portrays six comic characters:

  • Tillie– the rough and rowdy waitress (“waitress” not “server,” thank you very much)
  • Veree the Vegan — her New Age lifestyle collides with her deepest desires
  • Winnie—meek and memorable, she leads seminars on “Learning to Love Yourself When No One Else Will.”
  • Molly, Mother of the Bride—planning a wedding overwhelms her, especially the technology part
  • Marly—reports on her summer vacation, exaggerating just a tad
  • Marcia—serving time as the telephone advisory nurse

Praise for Save the Ducks

“…..these poignantly comic female monologues are reminiscent of Lily Tomlin’s characters….Buckner clearly respects these women, who are as foolish as they are brave, and their whimsically presented failures and stubborn persistence offer sweet entertainment.”

- The Chicago Reader

“…..another example of just how good an actress this woman is. Body movement, facial expressions, verbal timing—she’s got it all.”

- State Journal-Register

“……a sophisticated one woman show that brings the viewer through an array of emotions…..humor, pathos, joy, delight and particularly gratitude for Rose’s great talent.”

Cathryn Wood

“…..a one-woman laughaganza of open-minded writing and open-armed acting……Each character who appears onstage is both timely and timeless.”

John Robert Mcfarland

- Author

“….. a healing journey for all who see it.”

Brenda Manzano

“….a tour de force of fine comic writing and acting…”

Nancy Stagg

“….a most impressive performance…Save the Ducks—while hilariously funny—teaches us about life and the human spirit.”
